The documentary was produced by Dungog resident Michelle Dado-Millynn.
The film has been selected in more than 20 festivals and in August 2022 it won the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival "Best Australian Documentary" award.
Unlike many other films surrounding activism, The Power of Activism aims to place a monetary value on the benefits that activists bring to the economy as well as the costs of inaction on each of the subjects' areas of interest.
The documentary aims to show viewers the power of activism and highlights to the audience exactly how much of an impact each individual can make, as well as how big of an impact it can have when everything comes together.
In October 2022, The Power of Activism was selected as one of six films worldwide to feature on the International Ocean Film Festival currently touring Europe from March 2023.
The Opening Week of five screenings in Germany was sold out with over 4000 patrons. The Tour consists of 144 screenings and events across 84 cities throughout Europe.
The film will also feature on an international educational platform for the next three years.
Ms Dado-Millynn is working on an educational resource package with education consultants for Australian high school and university curriculums.
"As a documentary filmmaker, environmentalist and member of the Dungog community we have created and produced this documentary to engage, inspire and switch people on to the importance and urgency of the issues and the solutions," Ms Dado-Millynn said.
"The activists featured in the Power of Activism are scientists, conservationists, environmentalists, educators, filmmakers, Leaders and fantastic role models on every level for children and adults alike."
"All levels of society have a role to play for the solutions but Governments and Big Business decision makers must Listen, Act and Lead. Human impact has created the problems - it's time to come together and work for the solutions."
The Power of Activism had its national television broadcast debut on SBS on International Women's Day on March 8.
"The heart of our film lies in Dungog in more ways than one ; our community engagement and spirit is now on show all around the world," Ms Dado-Millynn said.
