Held at Merewether Surf House on the evening of Wednesday, December 6, 148 students and teachers came together to celebrate the conclusion of their high school journey.
Year 12 year advisor Nichole Doring said that the evening was a huge success.
"It went really well, it was a beautiful venue. The kids had beautiful pictures on the beach," she said.
Ms Doring said that Gwen Rumbel stood out amongst her fellow students with what she was able to achieve throughout the year.
Ms Rumbel took part in the Country to Canberra program throughout the year, a program aimed at empowering young rural women to reach their full leadership potential.
"She's done really well," Ms Doring said.
Ms Rumbel also won the Most Likely to Take over the World award at the formal. The best dressed male and female awards went to Brylee Roberts Brown and Toby Carter.
As well as Ms Rumbel, Harper Collins also stood out, being signed to the Melbourne Storm squad and moving there as soon as his HSC had finished to begin training.
The highlight of the year for the whole cohort and Ms Doring was the year 12 fun week.
"We went to Fingal Bay for a couple of nights and had some afternoon activities at school, laser tag at school and an amazing race as well," Ms Doring said.
"I'm very proud of them, they're a very nice cohort of students.
"The HSC was challenging but they seemed to cope very well."
Now the year 12 students of Dungog High School are awaiting their HSC results which Ms Doring said would be released on Thursday, December 14, followed by a barbeque at the school on Friday with their teachers.
