Taking place on Saturday, June 22, CWA president Helene Leane said it went well given the weather.
"It went well for such a cold, wintery day with a very cold wind. It actually went very well," she said.
A total of 16 volunteer groups set up booths at the CWA Hall, giving passers by an opportunity to see what's available in the Dungog Shire.
However, Ms Leane said that there are other benefits that the expo brought.
"There were two benefits. The first was to get those people interested in volunteering to learn about the groups that they could join and a lot of the groups said that they got new sign-ups," she said.
"The second benefit was that the volunteers were actually all in the same room, getting to know each other as well and that was really good. There were a lot of connections made so we had a great day."
Although there isn't an official count available, Ms Leane estimated that anywhere between 50 and 100 people came through to see what the Shire has to offer.
"It was a great beginning and we've had fantastic feedback from the groups who were there," Ms Leane said.
Hoping to host volunteer expo's biannually, Ms Leane said she wants to hold the next one at a warmer time of the year.
"It's one of those things that needs to be built upon so once people know what's happened once they'll come next time," she said.
"We'll be looking at it again in a warmer time of the year rather than in the cold," she said.
