"It was a positive result, that's for sure," said Boomerangs coach Josh Wilkinson relieved to finally get into action.
"I thought considering the amount of time we've had off of the field it didn't really look like we had a break at all, everyone turned up and did their job both in the attack and defence.
"We worked as a team, there was no real individual efforts which is what I commend the team on. Everyone did their job, got in there and backed each other up."
With six weeks of postponement due to wet weather and one win via forfeit, the Boomerangs have been forced to train indoors with outdoor fields not available.
Wilkinson said that this has had a huge impact on how the team plays and it translated positively into the game against Stockton.
"It's obviously hard for any team to have that big of a gap, including us having to train indoors rather than an actual pitch," he said.
"It's obviously a huge factor but there's also been some positives from that, being that little bit more intensity and being able to play in tighter spaces.
"Our indoor training has transitioned across quite well, there were a lot of triangles, players moving for each other and defending quite well together. It's probably helped our team gel in that tighter, smaller environment."
Wilkinson attributes the dominant score line to the Boomerangs strong sense of teamwork.
However, one thing that he saw as something that the Boomerangs can improve on is the transition from attack to defence and defence to attack.
"We struggled with little things like transitioning from one end of the field to the other which comes from training indoors," Wilkinson said.
"Moving forward as we get back out onto the outdoor field, I don't think it'll be an issue for our team. It's just the fact that we haven't been in quite the right environment to exploit that so far."
The highlight of the game for Wilkinson was Dungog's defence, particularly the effort in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Dungog's goal scorers were Ashley Rowe, Wilkinson and Henry George scoring one goal each and Eric Muir and Callum Boardman scoring two each.
The win puts Dungog in third place on the ladder, having two wins on the field and one win by forfeiture.
Dungog are going up against Scone twice across Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, playing at Scone on Saturday and Barnes Oval on Sunday. For more information visit the Boomerangs Facebook page.
